The timeline begins with complete information
A project moves faster when the sign company receives the correct address, vector logo files, landlord criteria, desired completion date and clear decision-maker. Missing artwork or uncertain lease approval often delays a project more than fabrication.
Typical project stages
Most custom projects move through survey, concept, revision, approval, permit review where required, technical design, fabrication and installation. Electrical coordination, engineering, utility locates or concrete curing may add separate dependencies.
- Site information and survey
- Concept and client revision
- Landlord and municipal review
- Shop drawings and fabrication
- Installation scheduling and closeout
Protect the opening date
Work backward from the required installation date and identify approvals that are outside the fabricator's direct control. Avoid announcing an opening based on an unapproved concept. For a phased opening, temporary compliant identification may be planned separately while the permanent sign proceeds through approval.
Set one approval deadline for artwork and another for technical drawings, then identify who has authority to sign off. Consolidating feedback from the owner, landlord and brand team prevents conflicting revisions. It also gives the fabricator a clear release point for ordering materials and reserving installation equipment.
