Outdoor use changes the specification
A sign intended for outdoors should not be treated as an indoor sign placed outside. Moisture, snow, freeze-thaw cycles, ultraviolet exposure, wind and temperature affect the LED neon, backing, fasteners, power supply and cable entries.
We first clarify whether the location is fully exposed, under an awning, inside a window, on a seasonal patio or used temporarily for an event. That exposure level guides the build.
- Storefront windows and façades
- Covered patios
- Seasonal outdoor events
- Protected entrance features
Visibility still matters
Outdoor ambient light can overpower a sign that looks bright indoors. Colour, line weight, contrast and viewing distance should be considered before finalizing the artwork.
For permanent exterior placements, we also review mounting, power access and whether municipal, landlord or electrical coordination may be required. Some sites may be better served by channel letters or another exterior illuminated-sign system.
Choose the right solution
Send a daytime and evening photo of the proposed location, approximate dimensions, expected operating season and details about weather protection. We can then determine whether outdoor LED neon is appropriate.
If the location is highly exposed or the sign must read from a long driving distance, Signartiv may recommend a more architectural illuminated sign instead of forcing neon into the wrong application.
