What determines the price
Channel letters are individually fabricated sign components rather than flat printed graphics. Cost changes with total letter count, letter height, logo complexity, return depth, illumination style, mounting method, wall construction and installation access. A short name with large simple letters may be easier to fabricate than a smaller but highly detailed logo.
The most accurate estimate starts with vector artwork, the installation address, a straight-on elevation photo and approximate available width. A site survey then confirms dimensions, wall conditions and electrical access.
Front-lit, halo-lit or both
Front-lit letters illuminate through an acrylic face and deliver strong visibility from a distance. Halo-lit letters cast light onto the wall behind the letters for a quieter architectural effect. Combination-lit letters provide both face and rear illumination, but require more fabrication detail and suitable wall conditions.
- Choose front-lit for maximum brightness and roadside visibility
- Choose halo-lit for premium entrances and refined facades
- Confirm the wall finish can reflect a clean, even halo
- Select colour temperature alongside the facade and brand palette
Mounting and installation matter
Letters can mount directly to the wall or onto a raceway that contains wiring and power supplies. Direct mounting can look cleaner, while a raceway may reduce penetrations and simplify service. The right approach depends on access behind the wall, landlord criteria and the condition of the building envelope.
A quote should clearly state whether it includes survey, design, permit coordination, electrical work, lifting equipment and final installation. Comparing only the fabricated letter price can hide a large part of the actual project.
